Our forests and beaches are well-known, but our dunes remain a bit of a secret haven. It’s a place we’d like to present for your discovering pleasure.
The tour begins with a relaxed walk from the Kwisitis Visitor Centre deck. It’s mostly a flat stroll along the beach with sandy slopes near the end. The round-trip trek to the sand dunes is about 3.2 km which will take approximately two hours, or a little more if you wish to go slow.

What comes to mind when you think of a bog?
A rotten reek? Millions of mosquitoes?
Well you’re in for a pleasant surprise. There’s more to a bog than meets the eye.
The Shorepine Bog Trail at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is a treasure trove of natural phenomena, and the new Parks Canada Explora app will take you through its twisted tale.
See a plant digest its prey, learn about traditional First Nations food sources, and take a walk through a forest of “giant broccoli”—all in one bog.
The tour begins and ends at the trailhead located in the Bog trail parking lot, just a short drive from the Kwisitis Visitor Centre. A leisurely stroll along the boardwalk will have you completing the looped trail in 20-30 minutes.
If you’re lucky, you may even spot a dinosaur...
The trail is wheelchair accessible.
