Gulf Islands National Park Reserve of Canada

Temporary Area Closures

Periodically, the park clsoes areas for public safety, or to protect sensitive wildlife and cultural resources. When an area has been closed, it will be marked with signs that indicate the duration of the closure and a map that indicates the extent of the area that is closed. Only authorized entry is permitted. See Park Rules and Regulations. These are not to be confused with our Special Preservation Areas (Zone 1) – Authorized Access Only.

See below for information on current closures:

Roe Islet Bridge Closure

The foot bridge to Roe Islet located at Roesland on North Pender Island has been closed due to dry rot which made the structure unsafe for public use.

Temporary stairs with railings have been installed on the islet side as an interim measure to allow continued access to the islet most of the time (except during high tide).

NOTE: The temporary access is not suitable for visitors in wheelchairs or who have other mobility challenges.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the park toll free number 1-866-944-1744.
