Effective August 2, 2016, to serve you better, NEW hours of operation at the reception of the Parks Canada Administration Office in the Heritage Railway Station.

Basic administrative services including the sale of visitor park passes, issuance of resident passes and payment processes will be provided during the lunch hour. All other specialized park functions will be available by appointment only.

  • Open daily: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Monday to Friday
  • Closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays

Meeting Agenda:

  1. Block 37, Lot 4 – 914 Bonhomme Street – The proponents have applied for a variance to construct a drop patio that is 2.6 m over the allowable projection into the front setback.

  2. Parcel J – 102 Bonhomme Street – The proponent has applied for rezoning of parcel GN and a section of parcel GM from Multi-Unit Dwelling (R3b) to Recreational Open Space (ROS) to preserve the green space.

  3. Block S, Lots 24-26 – 54, 56 & 58 Stan Wright Drive – The proponent has applied to incorporate staff accommodation into a proposed new second storey addition in Block S which is a discretionary use.

Parties affected by these applications are invited to make written or oral presentations to the committee. Oral presentations at the meeting are limited to 5 minutes and are by appointment only. Written presentations to a maximum of 500 words may be submitted to the Development Office. Applications heard at the public meeting held at 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the Grand Trunk Pacific Boardroom, Jasper Heritage Railway Station, 607 Connaught Drive, Jasper, AB.
Applications:

  1. Parcel GA – The proponent has applied to develop a temporary bike skills park, which is a discretionary use.
    a) Discretionary Use: Conditional Approval*
    *Approval is for a Temporary Discretionary Use Permit issued for a 5 year term and is renewable upon application to Parks Canada.
    *The land be released to the Municipality of Jasper through a Licence of Occupation with the condition that Her Majesty reserves the right to terminate the licence at any time, with one year notice, if the Superintendent requires the land for residential development.

  2. Lands adjacent to and southwest of Parcel GA – The proponent has applied for rezoning of this parcel from Natural Open Space (NOS) to Recreational Open Space (ROS) to allow for the development of a bike skills park.
    a) Rezoning: Approved

  3. Parcel R10 – 305 Bonhomme Street – The proponent has applied to develop a permanent skate park, which is a discretionary use.
    b) Discretionary Use: Approved

  4. Block 16, Lot 11 – 219 Bonhomme Street – The proponent has applied for a variance to increase the height of the garage from 4.5m to 5.64m, which is over the maximum allowable limit.
    a) Variance: Approved

  5. Block S, Lot 46 – Stan Wright Industrial Compound – The proponent has applied for a variance to use non-permanent foundations to support SeaCan storage units.
    a) Variance: Conditional Approval*
    *Each of the containers must be clean and painted and a gravel strip installed for vehicles to access the containers.
