Cave and Basin Discovery Camp
Saturdays & Sundays, January 12 to February 10
Noon - 4 p.m.

Location: Banff Avenue outside the Banff Park Museum National Historic Site

Get a taste of what camp life was like for the crew that built the Canadian Pacific Railway through the Bow Valley in 1883. Roast bannock over the campfire while costumed interpreters reveal the story of the Cave & Basin National Historic Site. Snap a souvenir photo of you “discovering” the wonders of Banff’s natural hot springs for the first time! Presented in partnership with Banff Heritage Tourism.

Location: Banff Visitor Centre, 224 Banff Avenue

Remember the whirr and clacking of the 16mm film projector? Parks Canada’s Mountain WIT brings it all back with a collection of classic celluloid from days gone by. These delightful short vintage films from our vaults will not be seen anywhere else. From the historical to the hysterical, this is a trip down memory lane that you won’t want to miss!

It’s a different show every time! This talented troupe shares songs, stories, and hilarious sketches about the nature and culture of Canada’s mountain national parks. You might see “Moose-terpiece Theatre,” dance the “Sweet Nutcracker” ballet, or even save a forest’s life in “E.R. – Parks Canada’s Ecosystem Recovery.”

History Comes Back to Haunt You

 


Mountain WIT is brewing up a special Halloween treat this year! Join the troupe after hours and after dark at the Banff Park Museum National Historic Site for a special spooky family program that asks, "Who is haunting the Banff Park Museum?"

October 24, 25 and 26, 2013. Two events each night, at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
