American badgers give birth in Kootenay National Park of Canada
Three relocated females of the endangered jeffersonii subspecies of the American badger have given birth in British Columbia's Kootenay National Park of Canada.
One badger had a family of four, the second gave birth to three kits and a third female produced one young. The badgers are being monitored as part of the East Kootenay Badger Project, which is also working on ecosystem restoration in and around the park, the installation of a badger culverts and badger highway crossing signs, conservation covenants, and land purchases. Parks Canada is a partner in the project.
