In January 2006, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve began the process of re-designing its interpretive centre on Wickaninnish Beach. Parks Canada sought out consultation from First Nation partners, forming the Nuu-chah-nulth Working Group a group dedicated to accurately representing the cultural and natural landscape of the area, within the newly designed centre. At the forefront of the re-design, is a change in the name of the centre itself Kwisitis Visitor Centre.
