Derrick Potter off screen: Inuit people in general were born to be outdoors, doesn’t make no difference what season it is, what time of the year.

Derrick’s voice off screen: I come into this territory at minus 50 and with a windchill and cold, cold, cold climate and we still love it, we come alive. The whole Nunatsiavut coastline has been a part of our homeland and in particular you know this Northern region, the Torngat Mountains National Park area.

Derrick’s voice over off screen: To be Inuit, to be identified as Inuit, it gives me great pride. An old Inuit woman said to me my grandmother’s Inuit heart beats in Inuit that we are today. We’re very proud to say that we are Inuit or Inuit descendants.

Derrick’s voice off screen: You cannot survive here without respecting the land, it’s a very harsh environment, and people who have never respected the land don’t survive. It’s a very powerful and a spiritual place that it brings us here, you know the mountains, the sea, the grass, the beaches, there’s a spiritual connection to that land and it’s in all of us as Inuit.

Derrick : Those are the values that make us Inuit and those are what we promote along with sharing with the rest of Canadians.
