Montreal, it's a December afternoon, the sky is clouded over. We are at the corner of Berri and Notre-Dame streets. A blanket of wet snow covers the landscape and part of the roof of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier National Historic Site. The name of the historic site is written on the screen. We notice a couple walking on the snow-covered sidewalk.

Inside the house, three candles are lit; there is a sense of falling snow in the shot. Screen text reads "A Victorian Christmas".

A Christmas table can be seen: two candlesticks, porcelain dishes, glassware, nuts, cakes, a turkey, oranges, and sprigs of holly.

Around the table are over 15 guests. Their host, a servant working in the Victorian home, gestures and seems to be giving a speech.

Four women dressed in the fashion of the day are enjoying interacting with the man.
