The Chilkoot Trail and adjacent White Pass are a popular destination for Whitehorse and Skagway area residents to engage in a variety of winter activities.

Winter Safety

Winter users are responsible for their own safety and are expected to make their own evaluations of weather, snow stability and avalanche danger, and their own decisions concerning campsite and route selection.

Winter Recreation Strategy

 The Chilkoot is shared by a wide range of winter users, from snow mobilers and dog mushers, to snow boarders, skiers and snowshoers. The Chilkoot Winter Recreation Strategy aims to fulfill Parks Canada's mandated obligations while addressing the needs and interests of various winter users. As part of the strategy every third weekend is set aside for non-motorized activities.
