Facilities and Services
The Visitor Reception Centre (VRC) functions as an orientation area, exhibit and theatre area as well as the food service, rest room, water fountain, and pay phone location. The first aid station is also situated here.
Fort Walsh is located in the scenic Cypress Hills and therefore has variable terrain. There are pathways down to the Fort and the buildings are wheelchair accessible.
There are standard and all-terrain wheelchairs and baby joggers available. There are also captioned videos available.
There is a gift shop located in the VRC.
Fort Walsh has spectacular views of the Cypress Hills which can best be viewed from the patio at the visitor centre.
Parking facilities hold 90 cars and at least 10 buses.
Picnic sites are available. There's a small wooded area adjacent to the parking lot and a picnic site located adjacent to Battle Creek.
A short distance southwest of the fort, the site offers a picnic shelter.
There is a food concession located in the Fort Walsh Visitor Reception Centre.
RV and Bus Parking
There is space in the parking lot for at least 10 buses or RVs.
There are restrooms located in the Fort Walsh Visitor Reception Centre, inside the fort as well as down by the picnic shelter.
