"Spring Festival" Opening Event

May-pole plantation ceremony and Soldier’s school

Fort Chambly is opening its doors for a new season. Join the traditional Maypole plantation ceremony with hosts dressed in period costumes alongside the lord of the land. Musicians and dancers from the Nouvel Opera will be on location to teach you how to dance around the Maypole.

Saturday and Sunday, August 19th to 20th

Enjoy a full weekend of special events offered free of charge* at the Park of the Fort Chambly National Historic Site to celebrate St. Louis Day and the 22nd edition of the Artistes sur le Champ Symposium. This event is presented by Parks Canada in collaboration with the City of Chambly.

  • Canon firing at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.
  • Strolling music by the La Sainte-Barbe trio from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Demonstrators of crafts from bygone days: Blacksmith and wood turner
  • Activities related to New-France cuisine
  • An animation on the art of fortification (inside the fort)
  • Demonstration and history of lace (inside the fort)

"Artistes sur le Champ" Symposium
More than fifty artists with varying styles exhibit their work at the enchanting Fort Chambly site in addition to creating live and interacting with the public.

The Harvest Celebration / Journées de la Culture

The Harvest Celebration / Culture days

Come celebrate Culture Days at Fort Chambly! A number of activities and special features will be presented in the courtyard and the park of the Fort. Young and old alike are invited to take part in the presentations on the fall harvests from the vegetable garden of yesteryear to discover the heritage vegetables and Quebec's ancestral conservation traditions. Take advantage of the occasion to see the Flavours of New France exhibit that reveals the five foods that were valued in the era of the French soldiers. This event is presented by Parks Canada in collaboration with the City of Chambly.
