Parkings, public phones, restrooms and drinking fountains are also available on the spot.

Fires and barbecues are prohibited.

The Footpath

A trail reserved exclusively for walkers extends the entire length of the canal.

This footpath covered with rock dust and entirely flat, is easily accessible for mobility impaired people.

Great Parks Near the Canal

René-Lévesque Park

An exceptional site jutting out between Lake Saint-Louis and the canal entrance. Attractions include pedestrian and bicycle paths, an outdoor garden with 43 monumental sculptures and an arboretum.

Pilot Project: Cross-Country Skiing and Winter Trail

Winter Trail
An 8-km winter trail extending from the Gauron and Lafleur bridges to the Atwater Market enables young and old to enjoy winter's pleasures in the enchanting setting of the Lachine Canal.

Cross-Country Skiing
A groomed 6-km path is available for cross-country skiing enthusiasts so that they can indulge in their favourite sport in an urban setting. The cross-country ski path also starts at the Gauron and Lafleur bridges and ends at the centre Gadbois.
