Pro-Vert Sud-Ouest

Do you want the Lachine Canal to flourish? Throughout the summer, Pro-Vert Sud-Ouest (only in French) is organizing a range of activities to ensure the Lachine Canal looks its best.

Your help is needed to clean the banks, get rid of graffiti and give a hand with planting and several other activities.

Défi du Canal Lachine

Aviron Lachine is inviting rowers to take part in the 7th edition of the Défi du Canal Lachine (Lachine Canal Challenge).

The approximately 5 km route will take you back in time as you paddle the waters where our ancestors founded the first rowing club in North America.

Spectators are invited to watch the impressive races from the banks of the canal and to cheer on participants. Rowers of all levels are welcome.


Learn to Camp and Montréal Folk Fest on the Canal

Presented by Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op, the fifth Learn to Camp week-end is taking place at the same time as the 8th Montreal Folk Festival on the Canal.

The Parks Canada’s Esplanade du Centenaire (corner Pitt and St-Patrick street) will be transformed into a campground for a weekend bursting with fun activities.

The Montreal Folk Festival on the Canal is a public event where you have the opportunity to discover folk, traditional and acoustic music performed by internationally renowned and up-and-coming artists from Quebec.

Space is limited so reservations are required. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. $88 for up to 4 participants (includes tent, floor mats and breakfast).

Lachine Half Marathon

August 23

The 3nd edition of the Lachine Half Marathon will take place on August 24, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society of Montréal.

The run, brought to you in partnership with the Borough of Lachine, is open to runners of all levels, competing over distances of 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. Families and experienced runners are invited to get moving for a good cause along our magnificent route, which takes in Lake St-Louis, the St. Lawrence River and Lachine Canal.

What is THE 2015 back-to-school event at the Lachine Canal? Weekend at the Peel Basin, of course! The public is invited to participate in a host of outdoor activities including musical performances by outstanding artists such as High Klassified, The Posterz and KILOJULES. A get-together designed for night owls, lovers of outdoor adventure, creative types, foodies, and young families looking for entertainment.

The Great Shoreline Cleanup at the Lachine Canal

WWF-Canada, in collaboration with Parks Canada and Pro-Vert Sud-Ouest, is inviting the population to take part in a cleanup activity of the Lachine Canal’s banks on Saturday, September 19, as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

The cleanup will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., east of the Saint-Gabriel Lock. People of all ages are welcome! Participants will contribute to cleaning a portion of the north and south shores of the Lachine Canal between the Saint-Gabriel Lock and Wellington Street.

Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau

Following the success of the first edition of Circuit bleu, held in September 2014, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau invites brave kayakers to circumnavigate the Island of Montreal once again to raise funds in support of children with cancer.
