Canada Day

Parks Canada is proud to connect Canadians to our network of treasured places. Woodside National Historic Site is pleased being a venue of choice for Citizenship & Immigration Canada as we host a Canada Day citizenship ceremony to welcome new Canadians to the Kitchener-Waterloo community. The historic house will be open 10:00 to 5:00 pm. The Citizenship ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm. Lemonade and cake will be available after.

Opening Day 60th anniversary

We welcome back visitors to Woodside for the 2014 season! In 1954 Woodside became a part of the national parks system joining sites such as Banff and Fort Anne. Help us celebrate our 60th anniversary! Enjoy cake and lemonade served at 1:00 pm.

Victorian Thanksgiving
October 10, 11, 15-18

Woodside National Historic Site presents traditional Thanksgiving in the Victorian Era. The boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, is decorated for the harvest season. Assorted autumn fruits, berries, and grains are tastefully arranged to make colourful centrepieces. What better place to prepare you and your family for your Thanksgiving meal than by stepping back into 1891. The estate will be ablaze with fall colours, perfect for a picnic, an afternoon stroll or picture taking. Explore the site at your leisure, enjoy crafts and special activities.

Victorian Christmas

Savour the seasonal delights of a Victorian Christmas and learn how the King family celebrated this festive time of year. Feel the magic of the season as you walk through the richly decorated rooms of Woodside in its Victorian splendor!

Christmas Mementos
Saturday, December 13
10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Discover the enchantment of a Christmas morning reminiscent of the Victorian past. Decorate your very own cookie ornament to hang on your tree. Dip a pen in ink and write a letter to Santa Claus while sampling seasonal cookies and apple cider. Admission: $7.80 per person. This program requires advance registration as space is limited. Lamplight
Friday, December 19
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Behold the splendour of a Woodside Christmas by the soft glow of lamplight. Cozy up under the mistletoe and enjoy hot apple cider. On our grounds, warm up by the crackling fire and sample roasted chestnuts. $7.80 per person. This program requires advance registration as space is limited. Christmas Cheer
Saturday, December 20
10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Delight in the spirit of a Victorian Christmas as you are guided on an interpretive tour of the King family home decorated for the season. Hear a selection of carols from the era. Sample seasonal baking complimented by tea and coffee. Admission: $14.70 per person. This program requires advance registration as space is limited.
