Education Programs

A program at Woodside National Historic Site provides your students with a unique hands-on opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. Furnished to represent the early 1890’s, the house brings the Victorian era of kerosene lamps, corsets, and wood stoves to life and offers information about William Lyon Mackenzie King, his life and political career.

Programs: Available year round.

Program Cost : $3.90/person (Teachers and parents FREE!) By appointment.

  • are offered in English, French, or Bilingual versions suitable for French Immersion students
  • come with pre/post-visit information packages that help to supplement your in-class activities
  • are imaginative, educational, fun, and feature hands-on activities

  • Allow a full two hours for the program at Woodside. Please plan your transportation time accordingly
  • Bringing name tags for your students makes the visit much more enjoyable

Bus Tour Programs

William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada’s tenth and longest serving prime minister, spent some of his most memorable boyhood years at this splendid home on the outskirts of Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario.

Woodside is beautifully furnished to represent the early 1890’s. The house brings the Victorian era of kerosene lamps, parlours, corsets, and wood stoves to life and reveals the influences on William Lyon Mackenzie King’s life and political career.
