June 15th

Father’s Day Cannon Program
Various times by reservation 613-925-2896 ext 104
Enlist your father (or another adult) in the Royal Artillery for a day! Recruits will spend their time training to be a member of the cannon crew. Feel the surge of adrenalin as you fire a 19th century muzzle-loading cannon. This experience includes a personally guided tour featuring behind-the-scenes, hands-on involvement, and a souvenir. *participants must be 18 years +

July 1st, 10 am - 4 pm 

Canada Day
Discover and celebrate why you are Canadian at Fort Wellington with a traditional cannon firing and loads of family fun. Join in children’s activities, historic demonstrations and refreshments. Free admission.


July 8th - Aug 19th, 10:30 am - 3:30 pm (Tuesdays)

Fort Kids
Enlist as a British soldier! In this one-day program children experience life as it was at Fort Wellington in the 1840s. Special children’s activities: period crafts, games and cooking.
Program Fee.


July & August, 1:30 pm weekends

Guided Tour
Be escorted on a journey back in time with a soldier or his wife who will share exciting tales and tastes of the fort’s past. Explore the fort’s history and features during an engaging 1½ hour tour with a guide in historic costume. The tour concludes with period summer refreshments served within the walls of the fort. Program Fee.


July 19 and August 9th, 8 pm 

Candlelit/Sunset Tour
Experience Fort Wellington in a different light through a unique candlelit tour with a costumed guide. Program Fee.


August 2nd, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Book Signing at Fort Wellington
Major John Grodzinski of the Royal Military College of Canada will be at Fort Wellington from 12- 2 pm for a signing of his new book "The 104th (New Brunswick) Regiment of Foot in the War of 1812”. Largely forgotten, the story of the 104th has been resurrected using rare period correspondence, reports, diaries and journals for the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Copies will be available for purchase at the Fort’s Barrack Gift Shop.

August 4th, 11:00 am

2014 First World War Commemorations
Together with the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Wellington is commemorating the centennial of the First World War. On Monday August 4th a ceremony will be held at 11 am at the Prescott Legion cenotaph on the Fort field which will include a 21 gun salute and a special exhibit.
