Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada

Groundwater Flow Test

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, JULY 27, 2012 – The Superintendent of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada is pleased to provide an update on the project to replace the dam at Lock 37 in Bolsover.

During the weeks of July 30 – August 3, 2012, and August 6 – 10, 2012, Public Works and Government Services Canada will be conducting a groundwater flow test in the area immediately adjacent to the dam. The information gathered from the testing will be used to assist in the final design and construction of the Dam at Lock 37 replacement project.

Large equipment will be on location to conduct the required testing resulting in temporary lane closures on Canal Road. As a result of the lane closures, motorists may experience some minor traffic delays.

The project manager Public Works and Government Services Canada anticipates that construction will begin before the 2013 navigation season.
