What is Project Agora?
The agora is a meeting place, a place to gather.
Responding to the need of the thousands of school and youth groups visiting Fort George each year for a sheltered area to have lunch or a snack, Project Agora was born. However, the Agora is much more than a picnic shelter. It will be a year round facility that will offer opportunities for private dinners and events for large groups and corporations. Through exhibits on the main floor and on the observation deck above, the Agora will make connections to all the stories of Niagara’s past including Butler’s Barracks and the Indian Council House.
A unique experience
As Niagara has an expansive heritage spanning centuries, the facility will give us flexibility for a variety of programming beyond the War of 1812. The Agora will also become a focal point for special events taking place on the grounds of Fort George. The Agora will offer a picturesque and unique venue for an event or to simply have a picnic lunch and spark a connection and appreciation of the rich heritage in Niagara.
