Unit 4. The U.S. returns to Niagara Lesson plan - A personal response to history

The lesson plan for Unit 4 begins with a story by a writer who reads his stories on the C.B.C.'s Saturday morning program called Fresh Air. The story is a reflective piece written about experiences the author had visiting 1812 period historic sites in the Cornwall and Niagara areas and is an excellent emotive piece of writing, included as an example for a creative writing exercise to allow students a creative outlet to tell the story of their experience at Fort George. The materials on our web page follow the same subheadings of the previous 2 units, covering Niagara settlers and action on the Niagara frontier. This unit also has a time line, charts of British and American command structure, Land and Naval actions and some biographies of significant personalities of the War of 1812.
