Parks Canada is pleased to offer a selection of NEW educational programs at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site that will suit the interests and curriculum needs of all school grade levels, Primary through Grade 12. Based on new research and a hands-on approach, each program has been developed to match an array of Social Studies curriculum outcomes developed by the Nova Scotia Department of Education.

Starting in May 2013, six standard levels of educational programming are available for schools and teachers – call and book your field trip today!

If I Lived at the Citadel
A fun interactive tour with lots of hands-on experiences for grades Primary to 3.
$4.90/student; Program: two hours

Citadel School Days
A new version of our well-received Victorian school room program, revised according to teacher and student feedback for grades 4-6.
$4.90/student; Program: two hours

From Colony to Nation
An interactive tour for middle school students (7-9), examining the 200 year history of the Citadel.
$4.90/student (Note Grade 8 students receive free admission with the Parks Canada Grade 8 Pass); Program: 90 minutes

Warden of the North
An interactive tour designed for the Grade 11 curriculum, focusing on the Citadel’s role in the “big events” of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
$4.90/student; Program: 90 minutes

In the Wake of Empire
An interactive tour for Grade 12 students focusing on the last years of the Citadel as an active military property, from World War II into the Cold War beyond.
$4.90/student; Program: 90 minutes

1 Hour Guided Tour
A general overview of the 19th century historic site suitable for all grade levels.
$2.90/student
