Friday, June 2
NEW - First Friday Community Celebrations in Annapolis Royal

As part of Annapolis Royal’s ‘First Fridays’, make your way to historic Fort Anne and enjoy musical entertainment on the grounds from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Be sure to drop into the Officers’ Quarters museum (opens June 22) to experience the new and immersive exhibits launched as part of the 100th Anniversary of Fort Anne and Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation.

Official Opening of Fort Anne’s new exhibits
Join Parks Canada at the official opening of the new interpretive exhibits in the Officers’ Quarters museum at 11:00 a.m. and help celebrate Fort Anne’s 100th Anniversary! Immersive and interactive, the new exhibits provide the perfect opportunity to revisit old favourites including the heritage tapestry and Nova Scotia charter but also experience some new perspectives. Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the stories and events of national significance that helped Fort Anne become Canada’s oldest administered national historic site.

Canada Day at Fort Anne

Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday at Parks Canada’s oldest administered national historic site! Engage all your senses - sing “O Canada” as you proudly watch the flag raised at Town Hall; join Parks Canada’s mascot, Parka, in the procession to the fort; enjoy a piece of cake; set out your blanket for a picnic and enjoy the musical entertainment. A fun-filled day for whole family starting at 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

July 15-16
Parks Day Weekend
In honour of Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation and Parks Day, enjoy special programming all weekend long! Join a special guided tour of the ground (English 10:00 a.m./French 2:00 p.m. daily) and a ‘White Glove’ behind the scene tour of the museum (Bilingual tour 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily). After your tour, relax while playing a game of Edwardian Croquet on the parade square!

Sunday, July 23
Massed Band Concert

As part of Annapolis Royal’s Band Fest, bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of fine music from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the grounds of Fort Anne! Bring the family and a picnic lunch and soak in the ambiance of music playing in this historic place. This is a fair weather event.

July 28-29
Victorian Cricket matches

Fort Anne is thrilled to host the 5th annual Cricket Tournament from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The crack of willow on leather will once again be heard in the Ancient Home of Cricket in Nova Scotia. The matches, complete with a traditional players' tea break between innings, will be contested wearing uniforms of the 1890's. Come and cheer on your favourite team!

Friday, August 4 (evening) to Sunday, August 6 (noon)
Encampment Days on Natal Day weekend

Stoll around the encampment of the 84th Regiment of Foot 2nd Battalion (Royal Highland Emigrants) and enjoy the sights, the smells, and the sounds of black powder musketry, outdoor cooking and life in an 18th century military camp. The 84th Regiment creates a vivid picture of the conditions of centuries-old military life. Saturday afternoon (weather permitting) a tactical battle features 18th century military techniques.

Saturday, August 5
Hands around the Fort!
Mark Fort Anne’s 100th Anniversary and Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation with a spectacular aerial photograph! Picture 500 participants creating a human link on the pathway surrounding the fort while high above a drone captures the moment on film. Family, friends and visiting guests….all are invited to make this happen! Drop by at 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - rain or shine! Afterwards, enjoy a sunset ceremony performed by the 8thth Regiment of Foot 2nd Battalion (weather permitting).

Saturday, September 16
International Town Criers’ Competition

Visitors are invited to witness a unique and colourful event on the Fort Anne grounds starting at 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Take in the pageantry of the elegantly attired Town Criers and their concerts and listen to each competitor execute their finely crafted cry! Following the competition, visitors can mix and mingle with these international guests.
