1960-2010: Celebrating 50 Years of Discovery

On a warm summer day in 1960 the meeting of Helge Ingstad of Norway and George Decker of L’Anse aux Meadows lead to the discovery of the only authenticated Viking site in North America. After eleven seasons of excavations and years of research, L’Anse aux Meadows became a national historic site in 1976 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1977. Come join us as we celebrate 50 years of discovery at L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site.
