Volunteer site hosts needed at Fort Langley National Historic Site

Are you friendly, outgoing and hospitable? A camping and history enthusiast?  This summer Fort Langley National Historic Site is offering overnight camping and we need your help. If you have an RV, a passion for history and nature and enjoy interacting with the public then why not become a host at Fort Langley NHS! 

What’s in it for you?

This program provides an excellent opportunity to spend time living in, learning about and promoting Fort Langley National Historic Site, the birthplace of BC! In addition, as a volunteer host you will receive:

  • RV parking on site (free of charge)
  • Access to electricity
  • Access to water and shower facilities
  • Background information on the site
Duties

Generally, hosts:

  • Welcome visitors
  • Assist with public education and interpretation
  • Provide information about facilities, services, activities, rules and regulations
  • Things to see and do in the surrounding area
  • Assist visitors obtain help in emergency situations
  • Inform authorities about observed infractions or public safety concerns
  • Basic wipe down of cabins & washrooms
  • Open & close the gates
Requirements
  • Greet visitors and provide them with information
    Volunteer a minimum of: 
    - 5 hours per day
    - 7 days per week
    - 4 continuous weeks
  • Provide your own self-contained camping unit (motorhome, towable trailer, truck camper)
