Discover the roots of this 1827 Hudson’s Bay Company fur trade post where British Columbia was proclaimed, and find out how Fort Langley influenced the course of Canada’s history. Explore the site, including the following activities:
- Climb the rustic bastion towers, and enjoy a peaceful view of the Fraser River.
- Hear the clang of the anvil at the blacksmith shop.
- Watch a barrel-making demonstration, and you may get a chance to try some of the tools.
- Pan for gold and build the walls of the playhouse.
Families: Participate in the new Parks Canada Xplorers program, packed with fun activities. Kids will receive a certificate and a souvenir as tokens of their success.
Historic Treasures: Meet our Collections Officer and see a variety of artifacts from the site's collection (Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 11 am until December 20).
Historic Weapons Demonstration: Watch a black powder demonstration and see how muskets work. Hear the bang of musket fire echo through the Fort (On weekends at 1 pm, weather permitting, until December 20).
“Faces of the Fort” Stories: Come learn about the fascinating lives of the many employees that helped make Fort Langley such a success: the boat builders, the voyageurs, the farmers (Daily at 3 pm and 11 am on weekends until December 20).
