Saskatchewan's Heroes
Tour the grounds of the historic village of Batoche located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, the site of dramatic armed conflict in 1885 between the Métis provisional government and the Canadian government. Hiking Through Time
Hiking the Gorge Creek Trail in Riding Mountain National Park is like traveling through 150 million years of geological history. Follow the trail through the steeply sloped gorge cut from the bedrock that forms part of the dramatic landscape of the Manitoba Escarpment. Watch for rarely seen birds, black bears and elk in this rugged terrain. The sights are spectacular!

Adventure on the Tundra
Be one of the few who have had the opportunity to visit the remote and beautiful Wapusk National Park on the shores of Hudson Bay. Fly in by helicopter for an adventure of a lifetime. Hudson's Bay Company Encounter
Visit Prince of Wales Fort, built by the Hudson's Bay Company on the Churchill River 250 years ago. Watch stone masons rebuild the fort's walls using 17th century techniques. At Sloop Cove, see signatures carved into the bedrock by the brave employees who worked here. Local operators offer tours and transportation.

The Guns are Blazing
Relive a great era, when the North West Mounted Police ruled the prairies! Come and experience Fort Walsh. History comes alive as guides dressed in period costumes lead you through buildings furnished to the 1880's. A Summer Job with a Difference!
Kids can "sign on" as a worker for the Hudson's Bay Company at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site and take part in entertaining activities every Wednesday in July and August. Leave the chores to the kids! These special "Children's Days" are a great opportunity to learn first-hand about the day-to-day life in Red River during the mid 1800s.

Kids, Arrest Your Parents
Kids, join the North West Mounted Police and dress in their uniform of red tunics and pill box hats. At Fort Walsh, you can arrest your parents, perform North West Mounted Police drills and go on a scavenger hunt. Adults, participate in a "real" trial and defend yourself from accusations of minor offences.

He Who Walks by Night
Celebrate Grey Owl! To some a charlatan, Archie Belaney gained worldwide attention in the 1930s posing as Grey Owl, an "Indian" nature writer and lecturer. But behind his façade, this passionate man delivered a groundbreaking conservation message that is still powerfully relevant. Take the pilgrimage to his last home, "Beaver Lodge". Head to the Nature Centre to learn more or ask an interpreter to share his history.
