Nááts'ihch'oh National Park Reserve – a Proposal

What is a National Park Reserve?

A national park reserve is just like a national park, except that it is subject to a claim, or claims, by Aboriginal people(s) that the federal government has accepted for negotiation. The Canada National Park Act applies. Local Aboriginal people may continue their traditional hunting, fishing, trapping, gathering and spiritual activities, and can be involved in co-operative management of the national park reserve. When outstanding Aboriginal claims have been settled and agreements are reached that provide for the park's establishment, the park reserve can be changed to national park status.
