Warning! I don’t taste good!

In the marine environment, several species are experts of camouflage, but nudibranchs show their colours. The nudibranchs are gastropods without shells that are related to terrestrial slugs and snails.

The nudibranchs have developed several tactics for defence against predators. The bright colours of some announce to predators “Warning! I don’t taste good! " The nudibranchs seem delicate but they can release substances that have a bad taste and that can even be toxic.

Other species of nudibranchs use recycled prey defences : some nudibranchs eat anemones that possess stinging cells and reuse those cells for their own defence.
