Parks Canada Celebrates Hockey Day in Canada
What better way is there to celebrate the centennial of Parks Canada but to team up with Hockey Day in Canada and present a day of activities at the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site, Kluane National Park and Dawson Historical Complex National Historic Site.
Parks Canada is pleased to welcome Governor General David Johnston, Ron MacLean, Don Cherry, the Ottawa Senators Alumni Team and hockey greats including Wendel Clark and Trevor Linden.
Parks Canada’s centennial celebrations in Yukon will be officially kicked off at the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site on February 12 in Whitehorse. Shinny games will be played on a rink set up on the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site grounds which will include a special appearance by “Boomer the Beaver.” A Yukon style canvas wall tent will provide protection from the elements.
On Wednesday February 9 in Kluane National Park a shinny game was played on beautiful Kathleen Lake with Hockey Night in Canada’s Ron McLean and company in attendance.
