Management Plan Review – Fall 2009
A management plan is the central document that guides Parks Canada in the management and operation of a national park. It is the key accountability document for the park to the Canadian public, outlining how Parks Canada’s integrated mandate of resource protection, public education and visitor experience opportunities, will be delivered over the next five years.
The Vuntut National Park of Canada management plan was approved in 2004 and is now undergoing a five-year review. The review provides an opportunity to gauge progress on the plan’s implementation and update the plan where necessary.
A planning team with representation from the North Yukon Renewable Resources Council, the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation and park staff, will be leading the plan review over the fall and winter. New national management planning guidelines will direct the development of a more inspiring park vision, key strategies and area concepts that will help integrate all aspects of park management.
Below is a newsletter that launches the review and invites your participation.
