Fall activities 2012

September 1 to October 8, 2012

At La Mauricie National Park, fall is a season that is awash in colour, a time to enjoy many outdoor activities. In the company of naturalists, enjoy some exceptional experiences – for example, going on a short expedition or simply attending an evening talk.

Activities are presented in French only.

Les samedis “Causeries”

Day: Saturday
Time: 8 p.m.
Place: Mistagance and Rivière à la Pêche Amphitheatres

Put some dash and colour into your Saturday evenings and attend one of our evening talks! Come fall, our evening program is offered only once a week, so don’t pass up this opportunity!

NOTE: The schedule and topics of talks are posted at the amphitheatre of your campground. Or you can ask one of the staff at the visitor reception centres or the campgrounds.

Destination: Chutes Waber

Compulsory reservations at 819-538-3232 before Saturday 4 p.m.

Date: Sundays, September 9 and 16
Time: 10 a.m.
Place: Wapizagonke Picnic Area – boat rental counter

As anyone who has seen them can tell you, Waber falls are well worth the trip! Getting there will take a little manoeuvring on your part. Not to worry – naturalists will be on hand to guide you, provided you're willing to put your shoulder to the paddle!

NOTE: This activity is offered free of charge. However, you must have your own canoe or kayak and all the accompanying gear. You can also rent a canoe on location for a fee of $20. Bring along water and a lunch. Expected time of return is around 4 p.m. This activity is subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.

Escapade d’automne

Date: Sundays, September 30 and october 7
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Place: Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre

Every year fall erupts in a profusion of colours and smells, making it the ideal season for rambles in the woods. Come discover the most recent addition to the park’s network of trails – the "Lac Solitaire". In return for a bit of effort on your part, this trail offers 5.5 kilometres of pure pleasure! Join us on this walk and share in the wonderment!

NOTE: The "Lac Solitaire" is an intermediate level trail. Walkers should be in good physical shape. Bring along water and a lunch. Expected time of return is around 2:30 p.m.
