Forillon National Park of Canada

Prescribed Burning in Images

Introduction

Populations of red oak appear to have a hard time regenerating in Forillon. The park thus conducted a prescribed burn in 2009 in order to enable the red oak to take advantage of post-fire conditions.

For nature, fire is an essential element, just like the wind and rain. A prescribed burn is a controlled fire that imitates this natural process – but according to a safe approach.
