Canada Day
Friday, July 1st

Celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday at one of its best known landmarks, Point Pelee National Park. We have packed all kinds of fun events into the day. Join an activity or take a break and have a relaxing picnic in the park with friends and family. Best of all – admission to the park on July 1st is FREE!

Beach Clean-up
July 9
10 a.m. - Noon

Join Park Staff for our monthly “trash bash” on one of the park beaches. Call 519-322-2365 ext. 0 for more information.

Kayak Demo Day
July 10
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to try kayaking? Staff from Pelee Wings Paddlesports will be on hand to let you try out a kayak, for a short, 20 minute paddle in the marsh. All safety equipment will be provided.

2nd Annual White Sweet Clover Challenge
July 16
10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Join members of our restoration team to tackle the removal of this invasive species from key areas in the park. Prizes and fun for all. Contact the park to register.

Parks Day Astronomy Weekend
July 16-17

Join acclaimed astronomer Rick Stankeiwicz for a weekend filled with astronomy. View the surface of the sun, take in a show at the portable planetarium and join in the stargazing. Park open to 2 am for maximum viewing experience.

Saturday, July 16

View the Surface of the Sun, Visitor Centre - 11 a.m. - Noon
- We’ll have a telescope set up with special filters allowing you an up-close look at the surface of the Sun!

Planetarium Show – “Tour of the Universe”, Visitor Centre transit loop
- 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m.
- Take a tour of the universe and see the constellations, stars, planets, galaxies, space ships and more in the portable planetarium. Shows last 20 minutes.

"Atmospheric Phenomenon", Visitor Centre Theatre, 7:30 p.m.
- Explore the wonders of the day and night sky with astronomer Rick Stankiewicz

Dark Sky Viewing, Visitor Centre parking lot – 9:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
- View the planets and wonders of the Milky Way and constellations with Rick and his telescope and binoculars.

Sunday, July 17

View the Surface of the Sun, Visitor Centre – Noon – 1 p.m.
- We’ll have a telescope set up with special filters allowing you an up-close look at the surface of the Sun!

Planetarium Show – "Pluto and Beyond - Journey to the Ice Worlds ", Visitor Centre transit loop - 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m.
- Take a tour of the colder places in the Solar System with footage from New Horizon’s Mission to Pluto and beyond. Shows last 20 minutes.

Sciensational Ssnakes
July 30 – 31

Are you curious about the secret lives of reptiles? Interested in where they live or what they eat? Point Pelee National Park is pleased to welcome Sciensational Sssnakes!! which provides hands-on education about reptiles and amphibians to audiences of all ages. Their presentation will include information about the animals, their ecology and conservation issues as well as a session in which participants are able to interact, touch and hold the animals. The team will be on hand with a variety of reptiles, some of which can be found in Point Pelee National Park.

Spotted Knapweed Pull
August 6

Perseid Meteor Celebration
August 12-13

We’re staying open all night to view the peak of this annual meteor shower. Kick the night off with a local moth expert and see what amazing species he’s able to attract – you’ll be surprised just how colourful some moths are. Join members of RASC at West Beach later in the evening and enjoy the meteor show. Park open all night between August 12 and 13.

Join Wild Ontario at the Visitor Centre and see live birds of prey.
