The following is a list of anticipatory summer job opportunities with the Parks Canada Agency. These job opportunities are located at Thousand Islands National Park in Mallorytown, Ontario.

Language Requirements:    Must be bilingual in English and French (verbal only).
Rates of Pay (per hour): 

College / University: $12.77 to $16.72/hr (under review).
Returning students receive pay increments each year.

Deadline for Applications: February 1, 2017. Late applications will be accepted and reviewed if positions are available.

Available positions and education requirements

Visitor Experience – Island Attendant Student (5 positions)
Assists with providing services and information to visitors and performs light maintenance on park islands.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization. Field-related courses in communications, travel and tourism would be an asset, but are not required.

Visitor Experience – Mainland Visitor Services Student (4 positions)
Assists with providing services and information to visitors and performs light maintenance at Mallorytown Landing.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization. Field-related courses in communications, travel and tourism would be an asset, but are not required.

Visitor Experience – Student Interpreter (2 positions)
Assists with providing education programs, services and information at Mallorytown Landing.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization with field-related courses such as: education, communications, environmental studies, biology, botany, geography, natural resource conservation, geology, outdoor recreation, Canadian history, museum studies, Indigenous studies, etc.

Visitor Experience – Event Planner (1 position)
Assists with providing services and information in the visitor centre and planning and promoting park events.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization. Field-related courses in communications, travel and tourism, marketing, media would be an asset, but are not required.

Visitor Experience – Social Media Student (1 position)
Assists with monitoring and creating content for park’s social media platforms and other park projects.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization. Field-related courses in communications, travel and tourism, marketing, media, would be an asset, but are not required.

Administration – Administration Assistant (2 positions)
Assists with general administrative duties and revenue collection; answers visitor inquiries.

  • Minimum first-year university, college, or higher specialization. Related courses in business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience in an office setting. Good organizational skills, knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience in handling cash would be an asset.

Work conditions

The following conditions apply:

  1. Responsible for providing own transportation and accommodation. 
  2. Subject to passing a Government Enhanced Reliability security check. 
  3. Possess a valid First Aid and CPR certification. 
  4. Possess a valid Class “G2” licence or equivalent. 
  5. Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  6. Willing to wear a Parks Canada uniform.
