Park Management Planning

Planning for the future of your park

This is a very exciting year as we are reviewing the management plan for Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Park management plans are important documents that guide the future of a park over a 10-15 year horizon. These plans outline the key strategies for maintaining and improving the ecological integrity of the parks, facilitating high quality visitor experience opportunities and conducting effective public outreach education programmes.

  • Proposed Management Themes Summary (PDF, 257 Kb)
    Parks Canada has drafted four management themes that build on our mandate of protection, education and enjoyment. The themes will be refined based on public input to produce a series of strategies that will focus on actions required in the next 5 years.

  • Area Management Summary (PDF, 309 Kb)
    Area management is a planning approach that allows for the development of specific objectives and actions for key areas within the park. This approach is helpful when:
    • Complex issues require a greater level of direction;
    • Visitors, local residents or the public have formed a special attachment or connection with the area; or
    • A distinct management approach is required (e.g. a culturally significant site within a national park).
  • Five areas within Bruce Peninsula National Park require specific management objectives.

  • Park Zoning (PDF, 237 Kb)
    Draft Zoning Concept Map (PDF, 597 Kb)
    Park zoning is a method for classifying the water and land in the park according to ecosystem and cultural resource protection requirements, and their capability and suitability for visitor experience opportunities. Zoning provides direction for the activities of park managers and park visitors.
