June 8 - Oceans Day

There’s no better place to celebrate Ocean’s Day than at the touch tank in Terra Nova National Park. Drop by the Visitor Centre to participate in activities that celebrate the life-giving role of oceans.

June 25 – Aboriginal Day

National Aboriginal Day is an opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal people and their contribution to make Canada the great nation that it is become. Share in the Celebration! Drop by the Visitor Centre for Aboriginal craft displays, demonstrations, traditional cuisine, music and more.

July 1 - Canada Day

Join us for a fun-filled day as we celebrate Canada’s birthday! The day begins 10am at the Activity Centre in Newman Sound campground where kids are invited to two-hours of games, relays, activities, face-painting and more!

Join us at the Memorial next to the Visitor Centre at 12pm noon for the official wreath-laying ceremony in honour of Veterans from the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Then, head over to the Visitor Centre for the Canada Day Celebrations! You will find races, games and other surprises. We will finish the afternoon with the singing of Oh Canada, followed by the cake-cutting ceremony and prize draws. Drop by the Campfire Circle that evening, for our campfire concert. Admission is Free!! 

July 16 - Parks Day

Celebrate Parks’ Day with us! Take a hike, explore the coast or picnic with friends in Terra Nova National Park. While you’re here, join us at the Visitor Centre for Monitoring Madness. Meet our park biologists and view the park through a different “lens”. Admission is free.

July 23 - Centennial Carnival & Newfoundland Day Concert

Parks Canada is 100 years old! And we are celebrating! Join us in the park on July 23rd for a day of festivities. Step right up, spin the wheel, get your popcorn and cotton candy at our afternoon Centennial Carnival. And that’s not all folks’! Stay for a star-studded “time” at our Concert in the Park featuring the Masterless Men. Concert starts at 7PM. Tickets go on sale May 15th, 2011. Check back for more details.

August 6 – Kids Day

Children of all ages are invited to take part in an exciting day of games, activities and other surprises. Join us from 10am-3pm at the Nature House Activity Centre in Newman Sound Campground where there will be face painting, games, races, piñatas, scavenger hunts and much more. Admission is free.

August 13 – Camper Appreciation Day

Staff would like to extend their appreciation to you, our visitors, by serving you a free lunch at our annual Camper Appreciation Day. So come join us from 12pm-2pm in the kitchen shelter near site 60 for free barbecue hamburgers and soft drinks.

August 19-20 – Heritage Folk Festival

Join us for Terra Nova's annual Heritage Folk Festival. This is an event you surely won't want to miss as musicians come together to celebrate traditional, Irish and Newfoundland music in the beautiful surroundings of the park. There will be two evening sessions (Friday & Saturday 7pm) and an afternoon “Young Folk Hour” session (Saturday 2PM) at the Outdoor Theatre in Newman Sound Day-Use Area.  Musicians interested in performing are asked to contact Mrs. Paula Gobi at 709-533-3145 or by email before July 1. A small admission fee is charged at each session.
