Shadow Darner (Aeshna umbrosa) The Shadow Darner (Aeshna umbrosa), seen here in flight, is one of the more than 60 spectacular species of dragonflies and damselflies now known from Kouchibouguac National Park. It is often found along the coasts in swarms in late summer, hunting mosquitoes and others insects above the salt marshes and along shaded corridors in the forest. It is also one of the last dragonflies on the wing into the fall, sometimes being found as late as the end of October. Keep your eyes peeled and you may just see one!
