Hourly Range: From $24.13 – $26.23/hour (plus 15% supervisory differential: $4.08 to $4.43 per hour)

Summary of Duties: Provides lifeguard services and related reception, information, cashier and janitorial services to guests in pools, to contribute to visitor use and enjoyment in a safe, secure environment.

Open to: Persons residing within a 100 km radius of the Town of Banff, Alberta.

(Persons who have received pay in lieu of unfulfilled surplus period, a Transition Support Measure (TSM) or an Educational Allowance and are re-appointed to the Parks Canada Agency are required to reimburse an amount corresponding to the period from the effective date of such reappointment or hiring, to the end of the original period for which the TSM and education allowance was paid. SCREENING CRITERIA

Applicants will be screened against the following criteria and must clearly indicate they meet those established criteria. Failure to do so may result in your application being screened out.

LOCATION: Banff, Alberta

EDUCATION: A secondary school diploma or equivalent or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

LANGUAGE: English Essential

EXPERIENCE IN:

  • The Supervision of Staff;
  • Planning and/or providing services to the public
  • Cash handling, and/or balancing daily sales

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

  • A valid Canadian National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification*
  • CPR “Basic Rescuer” or “C” level*
  • Standard First Aid*
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification
  • Preference may be given to candidates who hold advanced first aid awards i.e. Aquatic Emergency Care, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Level “Health Care Provider”, Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician, Pool Operator Certification.

* Copies of current certification (awards) must be submitted with your application .

Note: Only candidates who clearly demonstrate in their application that they meet the screening requirements of the position will be assessed through the rating process. Conditions of Employment :

  • Obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance and credit check;
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid class driver’s licence;
  • Possession and maintenance of Occupational Certifications;
  • Obtain Oxygen Therapy Certification within 3-months of being hired.

Operational Requirements :

  • Willingness to wear identifier clothing and personal safety equipment;
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and outdoors in various weather conditions;
  • Willingness and ability to perform a variety of tasks (i.e. cashier, janitorial, pool and grounds maintenance, including snow removal);
  • Willingness to perform under reasonable physical stresses (i.e. heavy lifting, pushing or pulling, working with cleaning chemicals, etc.)
