Wapusk Leadership Camp 2010

This summer, 11 young students from around Manitoba had the experience of a lifetime. They participated in a Parks Canada leadership and stewardship camp. The camp took place partly in the town of Churchill, MB, and in the nearby Churchill Northern Studies Centre, but for the most part was held in Wapusk National Park. The students flew by helicopter to the remote Nester 1 camp in the northern section of the park, where they gained leadership skills while enjoying nature, learning about arctic research, and even contributing to current research projects in Wapusk National Park.

As they began their adventure, they recorded their highlights in a blog. The students presented “Our Wapusk Adventure” in Churchill at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre on July 13.
