Never been backcountry camping? Not sure where to get started? Don’t worry. This section will tell you everything you need to know to prepare for your Learn-to Backcountry camp experience.

Location

Minnedosa River Backcountry Campsite Site in Riding Mountain National Parks



Fees

$44.00 per participants, $22 for 16 and under

Price is per individual, regardless of the number of participants per tent.


Transportation

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Riding Mountain National Park.


What's included

  • Park entry & Camping fees
  • Camping equipment (tent, sleeping pads and firewood and Camp kitchen
    (dinnerware/cookware, glasses/cups, dishpan, dish soap and dish scrubber, garbage bags) )
  • All meals (Saturday’s dinner, campfire snacks and Sunday’s breakfast)
  • All scheduled workshops and activities

What to bring

  • Backpack to carry all backcountry items
  • Sleeping Bags
    (sleeping bags are NOT provided. Please ensure you have one for each member of your group or several blankets).
  • Pillow
  • Suitable, comfortable clothing for the outdoors
    (remember that it can be cool at night so bring a variety of clothing so that you will be able to layer for warmth, for more ideas go to: The Basics – What to Wear)
  • Pyjamas
  • Rain gear
  • Comfortable and supportive shoes
    (you will be involved in many different activities, so be prepared to be on your feet)
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottles
  • A hat to protect you from the sun
  • Personal toiletries
  • Personal medication
  • Camera
  • Your health card

*Please remember you will have to carry all these items 4 km in and out of the campsite, try to pack light.


What not to bring

  • Alcohol
  • Pets
  • Fire arms/or weapons
  • Illegal drugs

Space is limited so reservations are required. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received 14 days before the start of the event will be fully refunded. Should you cancel your registration less than 14 days before the start of the event, we reserve the right to retain your registration fee.
