You must purchase a national park fishing permit when angling in Canada's national parks. Permits may be purchased at park information centres and campground kiosks. Provincial fishing licences are not valid in national parks.
Check the current Fishing Regulations Summary for opening and closing dates of mountain national park waters, special restrictions, possession limits, and a species identification chart. A number of proposed changes to the regulations are also outlined.
Waters in the mountain parks are no longer stocked. Catch and release angling is encouraged. A natural bait ban is in effect in all the mountain national parks except Mt. Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.
