Join a park interpreter for fun films and a prop talk about everyone’s favourite omnivore.
Radium Hot Springs - Poolside Theatre
Join Betty Big Horn, Pinelet Prince of Trees and a host of other fun characters for poolside theatre, July and August on Monday and Wednesday afternoons between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
Tuesdays at 10:00 am
All hikes meet at front entrance to Radium Hot Spring pools.
Along the Rim

Join a park interpreter for a 2 hour guided hike along the rim of Sinclair Canyon in Kootenay National Park. You'll learn about the history of the hot pools, look for wildlife, visit a waterfall and enjoy some glorious views.
Into the Secret Canyon
August 2, 16, 30
Take a guided walk back in time to a secret part of the canyon. Experience a sacred place of natural splendour as you walk along stepping stones along the creeks edge. An easy 1.5 km adventure for the whole family.
Scavenger Hunt on Canada Day

Hey Kids! How many items you can find on the Kootenay Scavenger Hunt? Grab a list from the information centre or campground kiosk and explore the park with all your senses. Be sure to bring back your list for a prize!
Parks Day BioBlitz Wet and Wild Pond Event
2:00pm, July 16
We will use dip nets to catch and observe the critters that wetlands support. Fun for all ages. Bring binoculars if you have them. Meet at the Radium Hot Springs Visitor Centre with your vehicle for a short drive to the site of this 1 hour special event.

Junior Naturalist Program
Discover the cultural and natural history of Kootenay National Park through the Friends of Kootenay’s Jr. Naturalist Program.

Kids are asked to bring sturdy shoes, layered clothing, a backpack, snack and water, and come prepared to go on explorative hikes, play interactive games and examine hands on models and artifacts. Drop-ins are welcome!

Interpretive signs and exhibits at visitor centres, viewpoints and trails reveal the stories behind the scenery. Watch for displays on the history, geology, plants, animals and ecology of the park.

Hire a Local Guide
Experiencing your park with a knowledgeable guide can make for outstanding memories. Numerous guiding companies are licensed by Parks Canada to offer their services within the Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks. There are interpretive day hiking and snowshoeing guides, ski touring and mountaineering guides, backpacking and horseback guides, as well as boating and fishing guides.
Any company offering backcountry guiding services in the Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks must obtain a guided outdoor activity licence prior to commencing guiding activities. Before booking, you may inquire whether the company you are considering is legally licensed to operate within the national park by contacting Realty Services with Banff National Park at 403.762.1530. You may also report illegal or inappropriate guiding activities to Parks Canada by calling the same number.
For the highest standards of local knowledge and safety, we invite you to look for guides who are accredited by either or both of the following professional organizations:
