Introduction
Since 2006, Gulf Islands National Park Reserve has been undertaking an Area Planning program to develop site-specific plans for primary visitor use areas in the park reserve.
Area Plans take a holistic approach—identifying the existing situation, protection and restoration needs, and the capacity to enhance visitor experience; assessing implications of various options; and recommending a plan for the site.
Where We're At
To date, 3 area plans have been approved-Winter Cove and Narvaez Bay on Saturna Island and Sidney Spit on Sidney Island. A 4th is nearing approval - Portland Island, also known as Princess Margaret, and we are currently working on an Area Plan for Roesland on North Pender Island.
