Natural Wonders & Cultural Treasures
Natural Heritage
Gulf Islands National Park Reserve represents the Strait of Georgia Lowlands natural region-an area tucked under the rainshadow of the mountains of Vancouver Island and the Olympic Peninsula, and graced with a Mediterranean climate of warm, dry summers and mild winters that rarely see snow.

Cultural Heritage
The cultural heritage of the Gulf Islands ranges through the on-going relationship of the Coast Salish First Nations to these islands and the sea, to European exploration and settlement, and now to the more recent decades of migration to the islands by those seeking a more relaxed and simple lifestyle.
