Jasper National Park is currently experiencing important warnings and closures that may affect your travels.

  • Area Closed: Cougar has killed an Elk in a portion of the Whistlers Shoulder Wildland Trail area. (September 3, 2014)
  • Warning: Elk season has begun! (August 26, 2014)
  • Warning: Grizzly bears are frequenting the following areas: Astoria Trail, Portal Trail and Cavell Meadows area (August 14, 2014)
  • Warning: Grizzly and black bears are frequenting the Golf Course area (May 22, 2014)
  • Area Closed: Maligne River is closed to watercraft from Maligne Lake downstream to Medicine Lake (April 22, 2014)

Road Condition Report

  • Celestine Lake Road - Very rough road. High-clearance vehicles only, four-wheel drive recommended. No RVs, no trailers. (July 2013)
