Closure of the Celestine Lake Road
With work on Trans Mountain
Pipeline’s TMX Anchor Loop
Project scheduled to begin in August,
preparatory work is underway. For
safety reasons, it is anticipated that the
Celestine Lake Road will close to the
public on July 9. In the meantime,
use caution while travelling the
Celestine Lake Road as there is more
traffic than usual.

Parks Canada’s Highways
Maintenance Crew is working hard to
repair and replace the highway signs
damaged last winter. What is taking
them so long?
To start with, plowing the Icefield
Centre’s parking lot took longer than
usual due to last winter’s deep snow
and then the floods of early June
resulted in washed out roads and flood
warnings that needed extra
attention. Tack on the regular
priorities of highway line striping and
getting the maintenance and repairs
done on seasonal roads so they can
open on time and you have an
overworked crew!
But, with most of these delays now
past, the crew is out working on
getting the signs back up, focusing
on the regulatory signage (e.g. speed
zones) and high visitor usage wayfinding
signage as the first priority.
