Marmot Learning Centre

Located at Jasper’s famous Marmot Basin ski area, the Marmot Learning Centre is the only interactive ski-in, ski-out classroom in Canada. Free, on-mountain educational sessions are offered to school groups through this unique partnership between Marmot Basin, Parks Canada and the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. All sessions are linked to Alberta and BC curriculum.

Active Learning Sessions

With a focus on getting students reconnected with the outdoors through hands-on experience, the following 1-hour sessions are available anytime during the day and are conducted by experienced Parks Canada staff.

Avalanche Safety
Learn basic avalanche awareness, know what to do before heading to the backcountry and how to be prepared.

GPS Geocaching
A hands-on introduction to GPS technology. Who knows where it will take you!

Emergency Situations
Learn the hazards involved in backcountry winter travel. Find out how to help yourself and others when things go wrong.

Physics at the Ski Hill
A fun opportunity to apply your physics skills in a real-life setting.
