Aboriginal Traditional Craft Programs

Hand Drum Making

This two-hour program includes material, craft instruction and teachings about the drum in traditional and contemporary Aboriginal culture. Drums are made with 10” hoops of wood and elk rawhide that has been presoaked. Participants will also have the opportunity to play on a hand drum and hear traditional drum songs.

Fee: $115.00 per person

Programs start at 1 pm and run on the following dates:
Tuesdays July 8 & 22 and August 5 & 19 

Traditional Craft and Aboriginal Cultural Teachings

This informal program is designed for the whole family to enjoy creating their own beautiful and unique Aboriginal keepsake. You will work on your own project at your own pace. It includes material, craft instruction and cultural teachings about each item.

Adults: $11.70
Youth (6- 16): $8.30

Programs run from 1- 3 pm and run on the following dates:
Tuesdays July 15 & 29 and August 12 & 26
(leather pouch, rawhide earrings or leather beaded wrist band)

Carmen will share insights on how Aboriginal people, walking in two worlds draw strength and inspiration from Mother Earth. Bring a blanket or towel for sitting.
