Current Twinning (Phase IIIB)

Of the remaining 35 km of untwined highway between Castle Junction and the British Columbia border, a 9 km highway segment near Lake Louise was twinned in 2009. The remaining 26 km are either currently under construction (Phase IIIB-2) or will be under construction in 2010 (Phase IIIB-3).

Project Goals:
  • To improve motorist safety
  • To reduce highway related wildlife mortality and habitat fragmentation
  • To improve the flow of goods and services on Canada’s national highway
