Forum Evaluation
ROUND TABLE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES

At the conclusion of the forum on Saturday afternoon roundtable participants and public observers were asked to complete an evaluation of the two-day forum. A summary of the participant's evaluations and their comments is provided below.

To help us prepare for next year's Forum, please indicate your level of agreement with the following statements, using a scale from 1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree

Consultation Method

M

The topics were appropriate 4.3
Breakout sessions provided adequate opportunity for input 3.9
Presentations were informative 4.4
Display posters were a good way to provide information 3.8
Background information was appropriate 4.0
Facilitators were helpful and impartial 4.5
Your participation was a good use of your time 4.5

Next year, if I were organizing the Forum, I would:

  • Poll sector representatives to determine key issues and set agenda accordingly
  • Ensure background materials that will be discussed are pre-issued when you notify roundtable sectors (i.e. patterns of use)
  • Key planning/policy reports should be given greater amount of time (i.e. LATB; TCH Lake Louise)
  • Continue to engage public sector while round table workshops are being facilitated
  • Provide facilitators for the breakout groups so they are more productive; perhaps make the sessions longer
  • Would like a more accurate, meaningful response from Parks Canada about my/our concerns (a detailed written response would be nice)
  • Frame response around how far we've come toward implementing the BNP management plan, measured against goals and objectives
  • Be certain that there is a representative from CP Rail at the roundtable so that they can be openly involved in the dialogue going on; so much of what was presented involves them, or could potentially; they need to be fully aware of the issues
  • Provide more pre-event information
  • Better formalize the evening reception to encourage mixing of participants and staff/stakeholders
  • Need to include overview of next years activities, planning and initiatives
  • Broader range of topics
  • More opportunities to discuss topics that may be on the agenda
  • Excellent facilitator and facility
  • Find another presenter for the Regional Transportation Study
  • Breakouts could be more structured
  • Facilitators could work with presenters and participants to stay on time
  • More time for breakout sessions
  • Follow the same process
  • Increase public information before meeting (would be nice to get more public to attend)
  • Send out agenda and background information further in advance of forum dates
  • Consider shorter time period for forum (i.e. 1.5 days or less; perhaps a longer day on Friday if necessary)
  • While the breakout sessions provide adequate opportunity for input I am not convinced they add anything substantial to the forum. Often the question/answer periods bring out just as good information
