Learning and Development

Parks Canada believes in a creative and learning organization that promotes individual and organizational excellence. As such we developed several courses for our employees, such as our orientation session and leadership courses. The employee’s Learning/Career Plan and the Guidelines on Educational Assistance are available to guide employees and managers in managing education activities and career planning. Our employees also have access to the Canada School of Public Service, where they have access to more courses.

Community Involvement

Parks Canada has location in more than 460 communities in the country. The national historic sites and national parks are very much involved with their local communities. The Agency encourages their employees’ involvement with community work as well, which is why our employees have one paid day each year dedicated to volunteering.

Protection of our natural and cultural legacy is a shared responsibility, public support and involvement is essential. Parks Canada recognizes that Aboriginal people are important partners in the management of greater ecosystems and that traditional knowledge is an integral element of understanding the environment.
